Tinseltown’s comeback: Los Angeles’ resurgence as America’s cultural capital

I was interviewed by Rory Carroll about my outlook on the LA arts scene recently. He was curious what a newcomer to LA saw in the glitz and glam of LA and how realistic it feels to survive here as an artist. I had only lived in LA for 6 months at the time but I did manage to find an amazing live/work loft in DTLA. All the research and planning for the move combined with my experiences with amazing people as a resident gave me a warm feeling that this place is full of opportunity, but at a price. LA is so expensive and the average person can’t swing it here: That’s probably what attracted me to the lifestyle it offers. Current status is working as a freelance photographer for the arts industry and a new series of images depicting light pollution in translucent layers of grotesque and beautiful color, space and form. I love LA and I think it’s starting to love me back.
